Will Jason Candle and the Toledo football have enough on defense to make the MAC West division a three-team race?

Jason Candle has done more than an admirable job replacing Matt Campbell as Toledo’s head coach.

Since Campbell’s departure to Ames, Iowa in 2015 all Candle has done is win a bowl game as interim coach, win 11 games and MAC Coach of the Year in 2017 and earn postseason eligibility in all three seasons as head coach of the Rockets.

Although they took a dip last season (7-6 from 11-3), they still boasted on of the most potent offenses in the conference, leading the MAC in scoring last season.

What do the Rockets have to do to contend in the MAC West this season? Can they find enough defense so they won’t every game won’t be a shoot out? Will the MAC West be a three-team race?

Here’s the season preview and predictions for the Rockets as they head into 2019.
