Predicting Cal’s 2019 season outcome

  • Week 1: Aug. 31 vs. UC Davis (W) — The Golden Bears have gone undefeated in non-conference play under Justin Wilcox and they’ll continue that streak this game.
  • Week 2: Sept. 7 at Washington (L) — Although the Huskies are rebuilding, they’ll be out for revenge in this Pac-12 opener for both teams. California pulled off a two-point upset in Berkeley last season, but will suffer its first loss in a potential defensive slugfest at Husky Stadium.
  • Week 3: Sept. 14 vs. North Texas (W) — The Mean Green possess the offensive firepower to give the Golden Bears’ defense fits. Still, California’s physicality will prevail in the fourth quarter.
  • Week 4: Sept. 21 at Ole Miss (W) — This will be California’s first game on the road against an SEC team during the regular season since 2006. It’s well-worth the wait and California leaves Oxford with a victory.
  • Week 5: Sept. 27 vs. Arizona State (W) — The Golden Bears’ defense has a dominant performance, shuts down Eno Benjamin and cruise to a 17-point win.
  • Week 6: Oct. 5 at Oregon (L) — Wilcox is 0-2 against Oregon and this will be a crucial divisional clash. However, the Ducks’ offense will be unstoppable and the Golden Bears’ defense will allow a season-high, 45 points in this loss, extending their losing streak to their North division foe.
  • Week 8: Oct. 19 vs. Oregon State (W) — After having the week off, the Golden Bears bounce back with a blowout win over the Beavers at home.
  • Week 9: Oct. 26 at Utah (L) — A defensive showdown in Salt Lake City, with the Utes forcing a key turnover to claim the victory.
  • Week 11: Nov. 9 vs. Washington State (W) — The Golden Bears’ defense put the clamps on Mike Leach’s ‘Air Raid’ offense to claim their sixth win of season and become bowl eligible.
  • Week 12: Nov. 16 vs. USC (W) — California comes out inspired and fired up for senior day. Chase Garbers has his best game of the season and the Golden Bears defeat the Trojans for a second-straight year.
  • Week 13: Nov. 23 at Stanford (L) — David Shaw continues his dominance over his rival in ‘The Big Game’ and Stanford defeats California for the tenth-straight year.
  • Week 14: Nov. 30 at UCLA (W) — The Golden Bears’ defense stifles Chip Kelly’s spread, holding the Bruins to a season-low 13 points to claim their eighth victory of the regular season.
