3. Mario Cristobal, Oregon

To be fair, it’s unclear why Oregon hired Mario Cristobal considering his career coaching record is 36-52, which comes out as .407 percent win rate.

In his first season at FIU, he posted a winning percentage of .086 and in his final season at FIU he had a slightly better .250 mark. Luckily for Ducks fans, he had the best season of his career in 2019 where he hit the ground running by winning nine games, including their bowl game against Michigan State.

The only hope Cristobal has of succeeding at Oregon is by bringing in a top 10 recruiting class every season. In 2019 he did just that, but his 2020 class has slipped nine spots from seven to 16.

Again, to be fair, Oregon shouldn’t have hired someone with a losing record to lead their football program back to the College Football Playoff. The fact his nine-win season last year was a career-best, doesn’t bode well for Oregon who needs to win at least 10 games a season in order to become part of the national title conversation.

Expect to see the Ducks struggle until they get a head coach with a winning record.
