Texas A&M football is running the gauntlet in the upcoming season and that’s putting it mildly. How do the opponents rank in terms of toughness?

Bleacher Report has Texas A&M within the top 10 in terms of toughness of schedule and they’ve earned every part of that ranking. To say that this season won’t be easy is putting it mildly. How do those opponents stack up against each other though? Which game will be the hardest? What about the easiest? Let’s talk rankings by toughness, shall we?

The Aggies open the season with the easiest game on their schedule. This being a home game helps as well as students — and the other fans — will be excited to welcome football back onto their calendars. This will be an exciting game for sure, especially with the amount of trash talk that Texas State fans have put on social media.

A year ago, Texas State finished 3-9 with a 1-7 record in the Sun Belt. To say the Bobcats were not exactly good would be an understatement. They struggled against not so great competition and now opening against an at least halfway decent Texas A&M team could be their undoing quickly and likely painfully.

It’s also interesting to note that the head coach of the Bobcats is none other than former offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, one of the guys that the Aggie faithful was more than excited to let go of. That’ll make this one predictable.

The spread for this game sits at 34.5 points. In my honest opinion, it’ll be higher than that and many of the young Aggies will be getting their playing time in during this first game. We will see a lot of freshman by the time this one is all said and done.
