It’s a new era for Georgia Tech football. Will this be a transition year in Atlanta or will the Yellow Jackets and Geoff Collins surprise the ACC?

It’s a time of change in Atlanta. For a decade, former head coach Paul Johnson ran the safe, conservative triple-option. Rarely were the Yellow Jackets bad, but high-end success was only slightly less rare. Johnson lived in the range of 6-8 wins, and while consistent, there was always a question of what could be for Georgia Tech.

Now, Geoff Collins takes the reins. For the first time in a decade, the Yellow Jackets will truly be embracing Atlanta, running a modern offense, and recruiting elite players. This has been a respected program during Johnson’s tenure, but Collins wants it to be more than that.

While excitement exists in Atlanta, the positive changes aren’t guaranteed to bear fruit in 2019. Most of the offensive roster was recruited for a drastically different offensive scheme, so there will numerous square pegs being put in round holes.

Many are expecting a down year as change unfolds, but Collins and the Yellow Jackets won’t settle in 2019.
