Purdue Football: Can Boilermakers find consistency in 2019?
After an up and down 2018, can Purdue football find a way to click on all cylinders and compete for the Big Ten West division title?
The 2018 campaign for the Purdue Boilermakers was a roller-coaster ride. The Boilermakers finished 6-7 (5-4) with big wins over Boston College, Iowa and Big Ten champ Ohio State, but also found themselves in some disappointing losses such as Eastern Michigan and Minnesota.
Purdue’s season started off slow, losing three straight but bounced right back and won their next four before losing four of their last six, including a humiliating 63-14 loss to Auburn in the Music City Bowl.
However, while 2018 was rocky, is still shined light on the bright future that Purdue has. Led by last year’s freshman phenom, wide receiver Rondale Moore, and head coach Jeff Brohm, the Boilermakers look to get over the .500 plateau and burst onto the college football scene in 2019.
But it won’t be an easy task, as the Boilermakers take on the TCU Horned Frogs at home and have four tough road games in conference play against Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern.
If the Boilermakers want any chance of breaking into the Top 25 this year and eliminate the “average” label, they’ll need to win at least one of two of those games.
While it may seem unlikely at first, Purdue has the talent and coaching to surprise many this upcoming college football season. Can Moore and the Boilermakers silence the doubters or will they play themselves into another 6-6 hole?
