SEC football has had a lot of team success in recent years, but it hasn’t brought home the Heisman Trophy since 2015. Who could do just that in 2019?

Derrick Henry was the last Heisman winner to come from the SEC, bringing home the award in 2015. In the three following years, Lousiville’s Lamar Jackson took it home in 2016, and two Oklahoma quarterbacks have won the honor in the last two seasons.

However, as 2019 approaches, there are numerous players that could end this streak. There are elite players at Alabama and Georgia. There are several coaches entering year two, and they have skill players that will truly come into their own with a year in the new scheme under their belts.

The transfer portal has affected the SEC, and a few players that feel discarded from their old school are now playing with a chip on the shoulder in 2019.

The offense is changing at LSU, and a few players will certainly benefit. Auburn faces the usual unpredictability that exists on the plains, and we could see young players thrust into starring roles.

The Heisman candidates in the conference face an abundance of different storylines, but one thing is certain. A player on this list will be in New York come December.
