South Carolina football enters Will Muschamp’s fourth year in Columbia with arguably the toughest schedule in the country.

South Carolina will embark upon the 2019 season coming off a 7-6 season and a disappointing end to the year, a 28-0 shutout loss to Virginia in the Belk Bowl. Now looking for a rebound season, the Gamecocks have been dealt one of the toughest schedules in college football.

Will Muschamp has been recruiting well and building a solid base of talent to compete in the SEC. The problem is they are still not close enough to compete with the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Clemson. Take those three teams and add improved Texas A&M and Florida squads and you have the makings for what could be a very long autumn for Gamecock fans.

This year’s team could be Muschamp’s most talented roster of his tenure in Columbia. The on-field results may look similar to last year. He has not been terrible in his first three years, going 22-17 overall and posting a .500 record in conference play. But one area lacking is his record against ranked opponents, going a putrid 1-11 against teams in the top 25.

The Gamecocks will match up against their share of top opponents this fall and those games will either make or break their season.
