Texas A&M football has quite the schedule for 2019 and the start of the season is right around the corner. Let’s talk bold predictions for the year.
This season is not going to be an easy one for the Aggies, but it is full of opportunities to prove that this team is the real deal.
Simply put, Texas A&M is playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation in 2019 as they are on the road against Clemson, Georgia and LSU as well as hosting Alabama. Add that on top of Mississippi State and Auburn and you have the recipe for a tough season.
So, on that note, let’s talk bold predictions for 2019.
5. This season will be won, or lost, on the road
There are three big-name games for the Aggies this season: at Clemson, at Georgia and at LSU. Those three games will make or break this season in terms of its success rate.
Win those games? This is a season that can push the Aggies into a spot in the playoff. Lose all three? You’re looking at an eight-win season — something that Texas A&M just fired their last head coach for putting up year after year. Will Jimbo Fisher be fired due to an eight-win season? No, of course not. However, people won’t be happy about it.
The Aggies head to Clemson in Week 2, fresh off a less-than-competitive opener with Texas State. Yes, last year was a close game, but this is a different Clemson team — one led by Trevor Lawrence. Do the Aggies have a chance in this one? I’m honestly not sure.
Now, facing off against Georgia and LSU back-to-back won’t be easy either, especially not on the road. And the fact that the Aggies have never played Georgia is going to make this one difficult, but I think they have a chance in that one as well as the LSU matchup. Does that mean they will win? Not necessarily, but they have a bigger chance to take down the Bulldogs and the Tigers of LSU than the Tigers of Clemson.
My bold prediction? The Aggies win at least one of these three matchups, pushing them to that nine-win plateau, at the very least.
