UCLA Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2019
Ah, rivalry week. I’m not particularly a fan of hatred. And, I am definitely a huge proponent of outward sportsmanship. But, how can you not love the incredible disdain these two teams have towards each other?
Last year, despite USC appearing to be the better team, UCLA took home the cross-town rivalry win, 34-27. That game was played in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl, UCLA’s home stadium.
While it may seem that this gave the Bruins the home-field advantage, the fact is that the proximity of these two schools make it so there is a balanced fan-base, no matter where the game is played. This season the game is at the Los Angeles Coliseum, but there won’t be much of an advantage for the Trojans.
Trojans’ quarterback, JT Daniels will be in his second year and ready to show the college football world how much he has improved since last season. At the same time, Dorian Thompson-Robinson has the same motivation to prove his worth in his sophomore campaign as well. This will not only be a battle of LA, but also a battle between two of the most promising sophomores in college football.
The USC program has had a wild ride this offseason, and therefore, Chip Kelly’s team will edge out Clay Helton’s in a close one.
Final: UCLA 24, USC 21 (8-3, 6-2)
