Barry Odom will be fielding his most talented team this year, but because of NCAA sanctions Missouri football will be ineligible for the postseason.

After the NCAA came down with the hammer on Missouri this offseason, several senior players from the football team were allowed the opportunity to transfer. However, most of them decided to stay put despite the Tigers receiving a bowl ban and three years of probation.

And for good reasons too. Although the Tigers lost their No. 2 all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, the team is expected to take a big leap forward this fall.

Odom is entering his fourth season with the Tigers and has led his alma mater to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in four years. He has every right to feel optimistic with Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant at the helms.

After all, Bryant threw for 3,311 yards and 16 touchdowns during his career with Clemson. Now the senior will try to keep the Tigers’ momentum going after the team won its final four SEC games of last season and averaged 39.7 points per game during that span.

Bryant will have an arsenal of weapons to work with and there’s speed and talent at the skill positions. The defense should be improved, which will help Missouri as it navigates through a favorable conference schedule.

With that being said, the opportunity is there for the Tigers to have a special year and the players are motivated more than ever.
