Can new-look offense get much-needed spark?

The 2018 Hurricanes’ offense can be described as one word: inconsistent.

In the Hurricanes’ six losses, the offense averaged just over 13 points per game, only scoring over 20 points once. In wins, the Miami offense averaged 42 points per game, scoring less than 30 points in just two of their seven victories. But even with a new starting quarterback, will the Hurricanes be able to change the narrative in 2019?

The offensive line does not have a lot of experience, and has shown potential future struggles in Miami’s spring game. The run game was by a committee last season and no wide receiver sticks out in an offense that wasn’t explosive.

But with change comes a new culture.

New head coach Manny Diaz brings in Alabama’s quarterback coach Dan Enos as the Canes’ new offensive coordinator. Enos spent last year working with Tua Tagaovailoa and Jalen Hurts and looks to instill the same mentality he did for Alabama into the Hurricanes’ offense.

Having been redshirted in his first year, Jarren Williams looks to connect with Enos and not only open up the offense in 2019, but also set the tone for the seasons to come. Can the Hurricanes’ offense light a spark, or will it be the Achilles’ heel of Miami’s season?
