After a disappointing 7-6 finish in 2018, the Oklahoma State football team enters this fall with hopes for a rebound in Mike Gundy’s 15th season.

Oklahoma State fans experienced an emotional roller-coaster through much of last year: a solid win over Top 25 opponent Boise State followed by a string of losses to average Big 12 squads in Texas Tech and Kansas State, which led to victories over top 15 teams in West Virginia and Texas.

The season-ending bowl victory against Missouri helped head coach Mike Gundy finish with his 13th winning season in a row.

So what, then, to make of the Cowboys this season? Are they a high-octane passing attack that can hang with the best teams in the nation, as witnessed by a 48-47 road loss to College Football Playoff finalist Oklahoma? Or are they an inconsistent unit hamstrung by a porous defense, as witnessed by hapless losses to Baylor and TCU?

The Pokes hope that it’s the former.

okIt felt good to end the season with a winning record and a triumph against an SEC squad led by an NFL-caliber quarterback (Drew Lock). On the other hand, it was frustrating to see a vapid Mike Gundy pace the sidelines while losing as the favored team four times.

Several offensive stars return in wide receiver Tylan Wallace and running back Chuba Hubbard, and the winner of a quarterback battle between Dru Brown and Spencer Sanders will be the key to directing another high-scoring campaign.
