The Trojans failed to make a bowl game in 2018. Can Clay Helton turn the USC football program back into a contender?
Entering this season Clay Helton’s seat may be the hottest in college football.
After a promising first few seasons that resulted in a Rose Bowl victory and a Pac-12 championship, the USC Trojans were expected to be competitive in 2018.
However, everything went wrong last season, resulting in a 5-7 record.
Part of this regression was a result of the team losing quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Ronald Jones II to the NFL Draft.
Now Helton will be forced to show he can turn this program around or else his tenure will almost certainly be over in Los Angeles. Will the Trojans rebound in 2019 or will this be Helton’s swan song?
