Alabama football has tons of former talent in the NFL, but what would a fantasy football team look like with all Alabama players?
The goal of playing college football is to ultimately make it to the NFL. In this era, no one does that better than Alabama football. When Tide players make it to the pros, they gain fans from the entire state of Alabama. As their NFL careers progress, Tide fans watch their games, wear their jerseys, and, you guessed it, draft them in their fantasy leagues.
So, what would a fantasy football team of all Alabama players look like? We’re going to have to get creative, but here’s how it looks.
Quarterback: AJ McCarron
AJ might only be a backup, but he’s the only Tide quarterback in the NFL. McCarron has a good chance to be Deshaun Watson’s replacement if he ever goes down, so there’s a chance he can get some reps later in the season. Needless to say, McCarron will likely be replaced by Tua once he gets drafted next season.
Running back: Josh Jacobs
Jacobs is just a rookie, but he’s an asset in a PPR league. As Oakland’s top back in Gruden’s system, expect Jacobs to get plenty of touches in both the running and passing game.
Running back: Mark Ingram
Mark Ingram will be the starting running back for the Ravens. With Lamar Jackson at quarterback, Ingram will get plenty of carries in the read option. He will certainly make the most of them.
Wide receiver: Julio Jones
Julio will have to be your first pick overall. He’s one of the best receivers in the NFL, using his strength to make plays over corners all over the league.
Wide receiver: Amari Cooper
Ever since Cooper was traded to Dallas, the offense instantly got better. Coop can make plays at all levels of the field. With Zeke Elliot in the middle of a holdout, Cooper might get even more targets early in the year.
Tight end: O.J. Howard
Howard is the only tight end from Alabama guaranteed to start this year. No matter how bad the quarterback play gets in Tampa Bay, Howard will be a primary target.
FLEX: Derrick Henry
Henry might not get the pass catches that Jacobs will, but he should be a work horse in Tennessee’s offense. With his size, he will get plenty of carries in the red zone. He ended last season on a high note, and I would not be surprised if he continued to grow in a contract year.
Defense: Washington
If you have to pick a defense, Washington is the way to go. With Landon Collins getting interceptions and the defensive line getting sacks, plenty of points will be scored by Tide players on defense.
Kicker: …
If you think Alabama has a kicker in the NFL, you haven’t been keeping up with Alabama football for the past decade. Your best bet is to see if you can sign JK Scott at punter and hope the Packers get some notion to let him kick extra points.
