3. Florida loses to Georgia — again

The expectations in Gainesville for the upcoming 2019 season are the highest since the Urban Meyer era, and for good reason. In just his first season, Dan Mullen seemingly transformed overnight a program that had finished the 2017 season with an abysmal 4-7 record.

If Mullen can accomplish so much in just his first season, what can’t he accomplish in year two?

A key component of those high expectations is to regain the SEC East crown and return to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. Of course, Florida will need to go through the new juggernaut of the east and long-time rival Georgia.

Unfortunately, the Gators will need to wait at least one more year to celebrate a victory over their hated rival. Entering the 2019 season ranked in the top-five, Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs remain several steps ahead of the Gators – both in success and talent levels.

With Jake Fromm under center for one – or even two – more seasons, Georgia appears poised to challenge Alabama for supremacy in the SEC. Florida has made incredible strides in a very short period of time, but still has some ground to make up.

Of course, anything can happen in a rivalry game.
