James Franklin enters year six in State College. How will Penn State football look with Trace McSorley gone to the NFL?

Penn State will look much different this season. Quarterback Trace McSorley is now gone and combined with Saquon Barkley’s departure a year before, a lot of talent and production needs to be replaced.

In addition to the normal departures due to graduation, Penn State saw five early departures to the NFL and 11 players left in the new transfer portal. Many of those players that transferred saw the writing on the wall with younger, more talented players set to take their spots from highly rated recruiting classes.

No matter the circumstance, a high amount of roster attrition is never a good thing for a college team.

There is plenty of talent left on the roster though. James Franklin has been recruiting at a high level since his arrival. The talent is young and sometimes the inexperience can be exploited.

However, Penn State has the capability of competing with any team they will face this season. Read on to find out what the cards hold for the Nittany Lions this season.
