3. Run game will be elite despite recent injury, departures

Alabama lost two big names out of the backfield, Josh Jacobs and Damien Harris after last season. Harris was picked up by the Patriots in the third round and Jacobs in the first to the Raiders.

Losing both of those guys would make the unit weaker, or at least one would think. Add to that losing a true freshman who was likely going to be a huge part of this offense in Trey Sanders who was the nation’s No. 1 tailback and sixth overall player in the 2019 class. He is expected to miss the entire season after suffering a foot injury that required surgery.

However, all of that considered, I’m willing to bet that despite losing three big names, this unit will be just as strong as they were a year ago. How? Let me introduce you to the guys who will be taking over this spot.

Let’s talk junior Najee Harris, the guy who has quietly waited his turn behind strong running back after strong running back — he will likely be RB1 this season. Add in fellow junior Brian Robinson Jr. and you have a pretty strong 1-2 punch for the 2019 season.

There are plenty of other running backs on the roster to help fill in the holes throughout the season, but Harris and Robinson Jr. could easily combine for 2,000 yards in 2019.
