Jimbo Fisher is heading into year two with Texas A&M football, preparing for one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.

Texas A&M had an overall successful 2018. This team finished 9-4 on the season, 5-3 in the SEC. They had a 1,000-yard rusher in Trayveon Williams, a strong defensive front, the blossoming of the tight end position and a growing quarterback in Kellen Mond.

We saw a lot of players get better throughout the year under a new coach in Jimbo Fisher and I anticipate that continuing throughout 2019.

On that note, let’s talk 2019.

Kellen Mond leads budding offense

There are a few changes happening on the Aggie offense, beginning at the starting running back position. Trayveon Williams is now a Bengal, leaving the Aggies with a group of young guns looking to fill that position.

Right now, the big guy in the running for that position seems to be Jashaun Corbin. The sophomore is best known for his 100-yard kick-off return against Arkansas to open the game. Look for him to also lead the return game along with Roshauud Paul.

The next difference will be the offensive line as the unit will have a new center and one new guard with Erik McCoy and Keaton Sutherland heading to the NFL. Those spots are likely to be filled by veterans though, so it shouldn’t be much of a worry as it stands.

Kellen Mond will continue to be the starting quarterback for the Aggies as the season progresses, barring something drastic happening. Look for his numbers to improve and for us to see more of the guy who played against LSU and Clemson and less or the one who played against Mississippi State and the late second half of the Auburn matchup.

As for wide outs, look for Jalen Preston to improve and insert himself into that starting lineup. Otherwise, there will be a lot of Kendrick Rogers and Quartney Davis — which everyone expects after the two more than proved themselves last season.

The question now is the tight end position.

With Baylor Cupp now out due to a broken leg, Glenn Beal and Jalen Wydermyer will both get a chance to show what they got as well as Camron Horry who has moved around on this team quite a bit, coming back from his time on defense.
