This season is one of the hardest yet, featuring road games against three teams that could make a push for the College Football Playoff. Of course, that isn’t where we are starting, so let’s talk about the beginning of this season.

The Aggies will open with a basically guaranteed win against Texas State. If that one ends up being a loss, then it may be better for fans to just let this season go.

After that, the Aggies hit the road to face defending national champion Clemson. That one will be exciting if it shakes out anything like the match up a season ago. They will then host Lamar, yet another game that should be an easy win for the Aggies before they host Auburn looking for revenge for the absolute meltdown that happened a year ago.

They will then head to AT&T Stadium to take on the Razorbacks — an exciting one now that former Aggie Nick Starkel is one of the quarterbacks on the roster for Arkansas.

The Aggies then get a bye before hosting Alabama and then headed to Ole Miss before hosting the thorn in their side Mississippi State in the depths of SEC play. UTSA heads to Kyle Field to open the month of November, the only easy matchup the Aggies will get in the month.

After a second bye week, the Aggies will host South Carolina on Senior Night before heading out on the road for the hardest two weeks of the season — at Georgia and at LSU.

What’s next for the Aggies?

The Aggies have one of the toughest schedules this season — if not the toughest. What they can’t do though is overlook some of these other games just to prepare for the likes of Clemson, Alabama, LSU and Georgia. There are other SEC teams that have been thorns in the Aggie’s side and could catch them off guard if they aren’t prepared for it — looking at you, Mississippi State.

Prediction: 10-3, 5-2 SEC

Go ahead and call me crazy, but I’ve got the Aggies only losing to Clemson, Alabama and Georgia. They won’t allow themselves to lose to LSU and make it seem like last season’s seven-overtime win was a fluke. They will finally get their win over Mississippi State and Auburn won’t be as much of an issue as they are trying to keep their head coach around for another season.
