4. Unproven Jarren Williams vs. Florida’s secondary

Miami shocked many people with the announcement that Jarren Williams won the starting job, beating out last year’s starter N’Kosi Perry and transfer Tate Martell. It is surprising, considering that he was on the roster last season and barely touched the field despite the struggles of Perry and Malik Rosier.

Perhaps Manny Diaz sees something in Williams that Richt didn’t last season. No matter who won the job, it’s clear that this is a difficult first matchup for any quarterback.

CJ Henderson is one of the best cornerbacks in the country, and with an unproven quarterback for Miami, I’m sure the secondary will throw a lot of different looks out there to try to confuse Williams at the line of scrimmage.

I’m not convinced Miami’s offense will improve this season, but this definitely makes the task that much more difficult.
