Georgia football was just a touchdown away from reaching the College Football Playoff last season. Can the Bulldogs find their way back in 2019?

Kirby Smart’s squad finished the 2018 season with an incredibly bad taste in their mouth. The Georgia Bulldogs dropped a bad loss to the LSU Tigers in Week 7, 16-36. This loss took the team from likely entering the SEC Championship Game undefeated to a team that fell significantly in the polls.

The Bulldogs dominated the rest of their regular season games until facing Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia lost by seven and were relegated to the Sugar Bowl against Texas. Many of their top players sat out this game which turned into their third loss of the year.

To cap off the disappointing season, backup quarterback, Justin Fields, entered the transfer portal almost immediately and ended up at Ohio State. While Fields was still slotted to play behind Jake Fromm, the Bulldogs lost an incredibly talented player who was the ideal insurance plan. Fields in now set to be the starting quarterback at Ohio State.

Let’s take a look at Georgia’s schedule, game-by-game, and see how this year may end up.
