Jake Fromm and company will be fortunate to ease into the year with a respectable opponent, yet one that will not be serious cause for concern. This game will also allow Georgia to get one of their conference games out of the way very early in the season while the vast majority of the players are healthy.

Last season, the Commodores were led by Kyle Shurmur. He has since graduated and now is working to make an NFL roster. He took them to a 6-7 season and to the Texas Bowl for their post-season game. Vanderbilt lost the match to Baylor and posted a mere 3-5 record in conference play.

Without a suitable replacement for Shurmur, and no real big-name transfers this offseason, the Commodores are unlikely to finish anywhere but last in the SEC East this year.

Look for Kirby Smart to only play his starters for the first half, which will be just enough to get the first game nerves out of their system. This game won’t be close.

Final: Georgia 28, Vanderbilt 3 (1-0, 1-0 SEC)
