Texas Football: All pressure will be on Longhorns in crucial 2019 season
The Texas football program is coming of an emotional season that ended in a 10-4 record. Can Tom Herman take the Longhorns one step further?
In Tom Herman’s second season leading the charge at Texas, the Longhorns won big games against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Sure, the Bulldogs had a handful of players sit out during this bowl game in preparation for the NFL Draft but it was impressive, nonetheless. And the win over Oklahoma was right in the middle of the Sooners’ run at the College Football Playoff.
The Longhorns did have some losses, though, including one against a Maryland team that eventually went 5-7. But we’ll give Texas a pass because it was only the first game of the year and the Terps were coming off an extremely emotional offseason. If you ignore the Maryland game, the Longhorns were incredibly close to winning the rest of their matchups. They only lost to Oklahoma State and West Virginia by one and three points, respectively.
While Oklahoma won the rematch in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game, the Longhorns could smell the College Football Playoff again in 2019. Let’s take a more detailed look at this year’s Texas team and their potential season outcome.
