Washington football will be replacing a lot of starters from the 2018 season. How will that affect the Huskies in 2019?

The Huskies have been one of the top programs in the Pac-12 as of late. In fact, they have had three straight years of double-digit wins including two Pac-12 title wins in that time span. Expectations are high again for the Huskies entering 2019, but they will have a much different roster than in previous years.

The Huskies will be breaking in a lot of new starters, especially on defense as they lost a majority from last year including their best player on defense, Ben Burr-Kirven.

On offense, they fortunately return their top three pass-catchers. However, they lose their all-time leading rusher in Myles Gaskin and all time leading passer in Jake Browning. Both Browning and Gaskin contributed to Washington’s success for several years, but having the experience at the receiver position should help break in the new starters.

Many people assumed former five-star recruit and Georgia-transfer quarterback Jacob Eason would win the starting job and he did just that, though he will likely split time early on.

Regardless who ends up holding the starting quarterback job, or any other position for that matter, Washington still has one of the best coaches in college football in Chris Petersen.

With Petersen still in charge, Washington is still one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 despite breaking in a bunch of new starters.
