. DEFENSIVE LINE. A-. .

This was certainly the greatest unit on the football field in this game. The defensive line manhandled Miami’s offensive line the entire night. One key to win for Florida was to keep Jarren Williams occupied with the pressure, and they certainly did that.

Miami’s running game was a failure between the tackles. Most of their biggest plays abused the secondary. Especially late in the game, Williams struggled with staying upright. Despite the struggles in the secondary, he wasn’t even able to find the open receivers.

All in all, Florida had 10 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Although not all of these plays were made by members of the defensive line, they certainly contributed on almost every play. The coverage sacks really helped make a difference in this one.

My one critique of the defensive line was about finishing plays. They were able to get the tackles. They even forced a few fumbles. However, they weren’t able to fall on the ball. There were some plays where the fans just had to ask themselves how Miami managed to maintain possession.

All in all, it looks like Florida has a new strength for the defense. If their defensive line continues to get 5+ sacks each game, this defense will be hard to stop.
