Ian Book and the Irish offense remain on the rise

With the exception of a few games here and there, there were stretches throughout the 2018 season where it seemed as if quarterback Ian Book was building upon his already stellar performances game in and game out. With almost an entire year under his belt, Book is ready to take the offense to new heights in 2019.

The losses of Miles Boykin, Dexter Williams, Sam Mustipher, and Alex Bars are significant, but offensive coordinator Chip Long is confident that their replacements will be able to compensate for those losses, at least to a reasonable extent. Chase Claypool and Jafar Armstrong look like more than suitable replacements while the offensive line is in the position to once again rebound from losing an NFL-caliber duo.

Unlike last season, Book will enter the 2019 campaign with the full confidence of his coaching staff. In fact, this has been the senior’s first camp as the bona fide starter at the quarterback position.

With a greater source of both confidence and experience, look for Book to be much more refined in 2019, something that should be a scary sight for opposing defenses.
