Ohio State Football: Will Ryan Day era yield Urban Meyer-like results?
With new faces at head coach and quarterback, how will Ohio State football fair in 2019? The Buckeyes are looking for more of the same.
It is a new era in Columbus. After a controversial 2018, Urban Meyer decided to retire. Whether or not that will stick for Meyer is remain to be seen, but the Buckeyes will move on with a familiar face in Ryan Day.
Day has been at Ohio State since 2017, serving as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. He also went 3-0 as the interim head coach to start 2018 while Meyer served a suspension for his handling, or lack thereof, of domestic violence allegations against assistant coach Zach Smith.
In 2019, the focus must turn to the Big Ten, and a return to the College Football Playoff. Michigan is always close, and quarterback Shea Patterson returns for another shot. Entering year two at Nebraska, Scott Frost is looking to get his first signature win.
Elsewhere in the country, teams like Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson have reloaded for another year.
In Columbus, it is a season of change. The expectations are the only thing that hasn’t.
