4. The Ohio State University: Ohio Stadium

The Ohio State Buckeyes are not only one of the more iconic college football programs in history, but they also happen to play inside one of the more iconic stadiums in the game as well. Ohio Stadium is a place that is never too kind to opposing teams, as the Buckeyes have put together an impressive resume inside its confines.

Ohio Stadium got its start in 1922. Originally, it seated around 66,000 screaming Buckeyes fans. Since then, the place has grown considerably when it comes to its capacity. Now, it is commonplace for over 100,000 fans to invade the stadium on game day. The Buckeyes have no problems filling up “the Shoe.”

The third-largest on-campus stadium in the country, Ohio Stadium is on the National Register of Historic Places. When the fans get going inside the Horsehoe, it can make things very uncomfortable for their opposition.

Overall, it is one of the more impressive atmospheres. I have personally experienced it, as my brother Bryan played inside the Horseshoe as a member of the Kent State Golden Flashes back in 2002.

Outside of the incredible fans that make this an undeniable home field advantage, game day inside Ohio Stadium also allows people to see the best marching band in the country. Also, fans chanting O-H-I-O is one of the more famous chants in the nation, as it starts on the south sides of the stadium and finishes up on the west.
