4. Michigan

The good

Your foot starts tapping whenever Hail to the Victors blares throughout The Big House where one of college football’s most storied programs stands wearing maize and blue-winged helmets. the stadium is always full and always ready for a team which has seemingly always been good, if not great.

The bad

Michigan hasn’t one an outright national title since 1948, sharing the top spot with Nebraska most recently in 1997. Yet, Michigan fans tend to treat that distant history as a current reality. Their swagger is befitting of a program in the midst of a dominant reign, of which they haven’t seen for some time.

The bottom line

For all the good and bad of the fanbase and the program, Michigan football is an iconic brand in a sport full of blue blood programs. What happens in Ann Arbor will forever reverberate around the landscape of college football regardless of who the coach is or what players are on the team.

Michigan fans get the benefit of multiple historic rivalries and record books of incredible moments and players which span decades. This is a fanbase poised for a breakthrough, ready to celebrate.
