The good

An elite program which has found their niche in the college football landscape, Oklahoma all the components of a top-tier fanbase. They’ve won, and won at a high level. Their fanbase saturates an entire state — and then some. The Sooners are a perennial College Football Playoff contender.

The bad

Where they fit in the national landscape is somewhat of a question mark compared to the big names in the SEC and the Big Ten. While the Big 12 might lack the national swagger, the Sooners haven’t had any problem getting their foot in the door in those national conversations.

The bottom line

Boomer Sooner might not make much sense at all to anyone else in the country. That hasn’t stopped the Oklahoma fanbase from using the cheer incessantly. Some might think the Sooners are crazy, but they’re just like every other following, amped up 100-fold.
