47.  Kentucky

The good

Kentucky capped off their first 10-win season in program history in 2018 finishing No. 12 in the AP Poll, particularly impressive considering the difficulty of their competition. They followed that up with a quarterback-less winning campaign in 2019.

The bad

Despite being in the midst of the football-crazed south, Big Blue Nation will forever be a basketball-first school with football as an afterthought.

The bottom line

With the exception of Vanderbilt’s academic-centered pedigree, the SEC is overflowing with some of the nation’s best fanbases. Kentucky gets the benefit of a zealous base willing to commit wholeheartedly, especially when times are good. Knocking off Florida was a national storyline which reverberated across the nation.

Despite admittedly having a firm ceiling, Kentucky fans fit right in with their SEC footprint. Game days in the south aren’t something to be trifled with, even at a basketball school. Fans show up in droves and back their team each and every Saturday.
