Georgia Football: Is 2019 the year Bulldogs win national title?
By Dakota Cox
Can the Bulldogs make it back to the CFP?
- Week 1: at Vanderbilt (Aug. 31)
- Week 2: vs. Murray State (Sept. 7)
- Week 3: vs. Arkansas State (Sept. 14)
- Week 4: vs. Notre Dame (Sept. 21)
- Week 5: BYE
- Week 6: at Tennessee (Oct. 5)
- Week 7: vs. South Carolina (Oct. 12)
- Week 8: vs. Kentucky (Oct. 19)
- Week 9: BYE
- Week 10: vs. Florida (Nov. 2)
- Week 11: vs. Missouri (Nov. 9)
- Week 12: at Auburn (Nov. 16)
- Week 13: vs. Texas A&M (Nov. 23)
- Week 14: at Georgia Tech (Nov. 30)
Being in the SEC East, Georgia gets a lot of easier games. However, they play two above-average teams from the West. Also, four of their five toughest opponents are in November.
With games against Florida, Auburn, and Texas A&M, it’s hard to go unscathed. I’m not sure where they get the loss, but I’d put my money on the Week 12 game against Auburn. Auburn and Georgia always battle in tough games, and a road game that late in the season won’t be easy to win. It could truly go either way, but I see them losing.
Prediction: 11-1, 7-1 SEC
If the Bulldogs go 11-1, they will likely be in the SEC Championship game with control of their own destiny. However, they still have to make it past Alabama. They’ve gotten so close in two years, but they seem to plateau at the end of games. This could be the year they put it all together, but I don’t see that happening. They will likely lose to the Crimson Tide in a tough game in the SEC Championship.
There is certainly a potential for the Bulldogs to be in the national title. However, I don’t think this is the year it all happens. Either way, we will find out over the coming months.
