Kent State is not only a MAC program, but a bottom-feeding team in that conference. In 2018, they finished with a 2-10 record. Head coach Sean Lewis is entering year two, and the Golden Flashes can only get better moving forward.

Auburn will see a familiar face at quarterback. Kent State quarterback Woody Barrett was a Tiger in 2016, redshirting that season. He transferred out of Auburn prior to the 2017 season. In 2018, he threw for 2,339 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Kent State’s defense will be entering the second year of a defensive transition. Along with Barrett’s growth in year two, this Golden Flash team should be improved from the two-win mark of 2018.

This is the last tune-up before the Tigers enter the SEC schedule. From here on out, almost every game will be down to the wire. Against Kent State, it’s important to get the starters out early, and make sure everyone is healthy as Auburn enters this highly difficult stretch.

Prediction: Win (3-0)
