Defending national champion Clemson football opens the 2019 season with ACC opponent Georgia Tech. Let’s talk bold predictions.

Clemson is coming off a big-time win against Alabama to win the national championship in January and is now gearing up to take on 2019 looking for a repeat with superstar Trevor Lawrence under center.

Georgia Tech is going into its first year with new head coach Geoff Collins and will be looking to rebuild their entire team.

On that note, let’s get to the bold predictions for this matchup.

3. Trevor Lawrence puts on Heisman-esque performance

One of the best quarterbacks in the nation opens the season against a rebuilding defense and that is going to be a big deal for him. He will show up and show out from the first snap to the last, whether that is the last snap of the game or in the third quarter when his team is up by enough that he is able to be taken out remains to be seen.

Trevor Lawrence will get time to work thanks to his offensive line and will do just enough to put this one away before halftime. This is an offense that is going to get seven starters back from the 2019 team and let’s remember that Lawrence could have been the top pick in this past draft with numbers like his and likely will be once the 2021 draft rolls around. He was nearly perfect as he threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns, leading the Tigers to the national title as a true freshman.

Look for him to throw for at least 350 yards and five touchdowns in a big-time, blow out win against Georgia Tech.
