College football’s week one slate is a bit mild, but there’s still intriguing matchups across the country to kick off the new season.

After the appetizer that was in week zero, college football kicks off in earnest on Thursday night. After a long offseason, the football gods have gifted us with a long opening weekend of action on the gridiron starting with UCLA and Cincinnati kicking off on Thursday and not ending until late Monday night with Notre Dame and Louisville.

The opening weekend slate isn’t quite as juicy as in recent seasons, but after seven months without football, it would feel disingenuous to complain. We’ll take what we can get at this point, and there’s still plenty of intriguing matchups with fun stroylines aplenty.

Each week, just like last season, I’ll take a look at the 10 biggest games across college football, as selected by me. Some will be obvious, some will not.

Last season, I finished just above .500 in picking these games against the spread, while nailing 73% of outright winners. A lot of times these are genuine toss-up games, so I’m proud of both of those numbers.

With nothing but offseason narratives to go on, week one typically presents the most challenging slate to pick. We truly don’t know the quality of most teams until the games kick off, but that won’t stop us from prognosticating anyway.
