Texas A&M football is finally upon us and the Aggies are kicking off the season with Texas State on Thursday night. Let’s talk bold predictions.

The 2019 season promises to be one of the hardest the Aggies have faced off against in a while.

In fact, the Aggies face off against No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and No. 6 LSU throughout the season. To say that this one will be an adventure would be an understatement. However, before all of that happens, this team has the task of facing off against Texas State to open the season.

Let’s talk bold predictions for the matchup with the Bobcats.

3. Kellen Mond impresses — to a point

Take this as you may.

ESPN has Kellen Mond ranked as the most important player in the College Football Playoff race this year. That’s a fair assessment as if he does well the Aggies could be making a run for a spot in the playoff, however, in game one against Texas State, Mond can only do so much and still remain “impressive”. He is facing off against a less-than-stellar defense as they simply aren’t in the same league as the Aggies both literally and figuratively.

Look for Mond to put together a strong performance in which he takes care of the ball, doesn’t turn it over and is able to easily find his receivers for at least 200 yards passing, getting the ball to at least six different wide outs. His running game will back him up in a big way, rushing for at least 250 yards between at least three different running backs before the night is done.

Mond won’t win a Heisman for his performance against a lesser Texas State team, but every great quarterback has to start somewhere and for him, that start will be against the Bobcats.
