Michigan football is ready to get over the hump and win the Big Ten. Week 1 should prove as a nice tune up to start off the 2019 season.

If there was ever a year for the Michigan Wolverines to win the Big Ten championship, it would be the 2019 season.

They are introducing the spread offense with a first time offensive coordinator but have the talent and coaching to take control of the Big Ten and scheduling the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders as their Week 1 opponent is the perfect way for the Wolverines to kick off their playoff journey.

The Blue Raiders enter the 2019 campaign fresh off a title game appearance from their own conference and look to pull off one of the biggest upsets in college football history.

It’s safe to say which way this one will go but just in case you’re interested in the Wolverines’ new-look offense, tune into the Big Ten Network at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Here’s how you can watch Saturday’s game between Michigan and Middle Tennessee State:

Date: Saturday, Aug. 31
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Location: Ann Arbor, Mich.
Venue: Michigan Stadium
TV: BTN

Keys to Victory

With a new offense, the Wolverines may not explode onto the scoreboard as most others would expect against a weaker opponent, but expect them to air it out for the majority of the game as they look to iron out the details. Shea Patterson, who should excel in this offense, will need to remain calm and patient while getting things rolling.

The Blue Raiders will need to remained focused and not let the big lights get to them. This game will be hard enough to pull off the upset and MTSU doesn’t need any extra distractions weighing them down.

Prediction

The Michigan Wolverines defense shows its dominance early forcing a couple first half turnovers providing more practice for their offense. And while the offense is a little slow at first, the Wolverines start firing on all cylinders and have this one put away by halftime. The Blue Raiders take blow after blow but break double-digits by the game’s end.

Final: MTSU 10, Michigan 45
