2. Kellen Mond impressed big time

Yes, this is against a lesser opponent and all of that and that has been taken into consideration when writing this slide. That being said though, the Kellen Mond that we saw on the field against Texas State was a completely different quarterback than the guy we saw in 2018.

We saw flashes of his potential a year ago throughout the season, but Thursday night was a different animal than anything we have ever seen from Mond.

Mond finished the night with a 19-for-27 line with 194 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown along with 25 yards on the ground. However, it is not even the numbers that stand out and made many people gawk at the junior quarterback. It was the way he seemed to put the ball in a place where only his receiver could get it over and over.

Just enjoy this throw from him to junior wideout Jhamon Ausbon.

Look for Mond to be a difference-maker throughout this season for sure. His offensive line just has to step up in a big way because if not, this team is going to have issues that even a top of the line quarterback can’t fix. His receivers still have some growing to do as well, but Ausbon and Quartney Davis impressed early for the Aggies.
