Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from dominant win vs Texas State
By Shelbie Warr
1. Kellen Mond grew up big-time this offseason
In 2018, Kellen Mond wasn’t necessarily bad — honestly it was quite the opposite. He was pretty strong most of the time, though there were a couple of games that everyone wishes we could take back.
With all of that being said, he did enough to win nine games for his team and that was good enough for the first year under Jimbo Fisher, but now he has to get better and it started strong against Texas State.

He dropped dime after dime throughout the game, especially quite a few to Jhamon Ausbon — one of those guys that many were hoping would really emerge this season as a major target for the Aggies. He finished this one 19-for-27 with 194 yards passing and three touchdowns. Add a rushing touchdown and you’ve got an extremely complete performance from the Aggie starting quarterback.
Of course, he will really be put to the test against Clemson next week, but as of right now, Mond deserves all of the praise he will get this week.
