Can USC football bounce back and help embattled head coach Clay Helton keep his job with a strong performance against a tough Fresno State team?

There’s a photo of an airplane flying a banner that reads, “Lynn Swann: Please fire Clay Helton.” Suffice it to say, the Trojans’ head coach is fighting for his job every game. The Trojans’ brass have no issue with firing you outside of the wall of the athletic department.

After being jilted by new Arizona Cardinal head coach Kliff Kingsbury, Helton went all in with the “air-raid” offense and hired former Texas Tech quarterback and ex-North Texas and Washington State assistant coach Graham Harrell in hopes that the offense will put more points on the board than their traditional multiple formation pro-style offense did.

What Jeff Tedford has done in the Valley is simply amazing. He’s stirred the echoes of the Pat Hill “play ’em anywhere” era. The year before Tedford arrived in Fresno, the Bulldogs won exactly one game. He’s won 10 games or more two consecutive seasons.

How will these storylines play into their opening game?
