Alabama football beat Duke in convincing fashion to start the 2019 season and it looked good in the process. What’d we learn from the Tide win?

Alabama had a slow start to this game, but ended up winning with plenty of cushion and the opportunity to play backups.

Despite the slow start on offense, the Tide eventually found their groove and started hitting on all cylinders as they racked up the points.

What did we learn about the Tide from the blowout victory over Duke?

3. Tua is still accurate

Alabama quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, was one of the best — if not the best — quarterbacks in college football last year. With that said, he struggled a bit towards the end of the season as he dealt with injuries.

Well, Saturday’s performance should put any concerns (there shouldn’t have been any concerns) about Tua and his play to rest.

He is just as accurate as he was for the majority of the year last year and has picked up where he left off before he started dealing with injuries. Tua was taken out of the game at the end of the third quarter as Alabama was up 35-3 when Nick Saban decided to go with his No. 2s.

Before getting the entire fourth quarter off, Tua went 26-for-31 passing with 336 yards passing and four passing touchdowns. Tua was crisp the entire game and as accurate as ever. He also distributed the ball extremely well just like he did last year as each of his passing touchdowns went to different receivers.

I know the opponent was Duke — not a top-10 team in the nation — but Bama fans should be encouraged.
