Florida State Football: 3 takeaways from tough loss to Boise State in Week 1
Florida State football looked to be running away with a solid home win to start the 2019 season, but Boise State changed that quickly.
Florida State opened the season with what looked to be a convincing runaway win over Boise State, but things quickly turned in the Broncos’ favor.
The Seminoles found themselves up by 18 points, but a second-half comeback led to a win by the Broncos, erasing Florida State’s positives from the first half.
What did we learn from this one?
3. Hank Bachmeier is the real deal
Boise State freshman Hank Bachmeier became the first true freshman to start at quarterback in Broncos history. He sure demonstrated why he won the starting job as he threw for over 400 yards in his first game as well as a touchdown. The Boise State rushing attack helped settle him in as well.
Bachmeier did not look like a true freshman, though. He looked poised and in control, especially in the second half. He constantly showed his toughness through out the game as his helmet came off several times and he took hit after hit.
Not only did he look good in the pocket after he got settled in, but he did a good job extending the play with his feet as well. Several times a play would break down, but he would be able to escape the pocket, keep his eyes downfield and deliver an accurate ball.
As if all this wasn’t enough for an impressive first start against Florida State, he led the Broncos from behind to get the win. They were down by 18 points to Florida State and it looked like the Seminoles were going to run away with the game. The Broncos did enough to stay in the game and Bachmeier led them to victory.
This did not look like his first college game and the Boise State fanbase has a lot to be excited for.
