2. Tale of two halves for Florida State

Florida State was on fire in the first half as it came out and scored 31 points. The Seminoles looked to be on their way to a very impressive win. New offensive coordinator, Kendal Briles was dialing up successful plays left and right and it looked they were going to hang over 50 points on the Broncos.

James Blackman had three touchdown passes in the first half, Cam Akers had a long touchdown run and there were three different receivers that caught a touchdown pass.

Nothing could go wrong for Florida State in the first half — it did have a bad snap in the first half that went over Blackman’s head, but it still managed a field goal.

Then the second half came around and the Seminoles didn’t score a point. They were completely shut out. Boise State scored 17 points in the second half and at one point was down by 18 before coming back. The Florida State offense and defense looked like the Florida State of 2018.

The fact they played so well in the first half is encouraging, but the second-half letdown left the Seminoles with a heartbreaking loss. This is not how Willie Taggart wanted to start his second season at Florida State.
