After a disappointing end to the 2018 season, Georgia football got off to a good start with a 30-6 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Good seasons aren’t good enough. The Georgia Bulldogs finished the 2018 regular season with an 11-1 record. Their lone loss was to the LSU Tigers, 36-16, in Baton Rouge. However, following a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, it was clear that the Bulldogs’ chances to be included in the College Football Playoff had gone to zero.

This bitter season was capped of by a 28-21 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl. But, prior to the bowl game, freshman prodigy, Justin Fields, entered the transfer portal. Fields landed at Ohio State and became the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback.

Fortunate for the Bulldogs, Jake Fromm is still running the offense, and he’s as good as ever. It took eight plays for Fromm to lead Georgia down the field for a 75-yard scoring drive against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Georgia got off to an early lead and headed into halftime with a 21-6 lead. Their dominance slowed down in the second half, but this is likely due to Kirby Smart starting to put in backup players. The Bulldogs cruised to victory, winning 30-6.

Let’s take a good look at what else we learned from this first week of play.
