1. The Kentucky defense has the talent to pull it all together

Before we talk about the defense as a whole, we gotta talk about the guy who definitely wins the player of the week on the defensive side of the ball for the Wildcats.

DeAndre Square, the sophomore linebacker, had quite the afternoon. He had the interception but that wasn’t all. He finished with 11 total tackles, a tackle for loss and half a sack. Not bad for a young gun trying to replace Josh Allen — one of the best defenders to ever play at Kentucky.

Overall, we saw some good things from the Kentucky defense against Toledo. Joshua Paschal showed that he can be the leader of this defense and that they have quite a few playmakers to help keep the offense afloat. They held Toledo to just 11 out of 25 passing and 181 rushing yards collectively.

If Kentucky is able to compete at a high level in the SEC East it will not be because of its offense or because of “Terry Touchdown” but it will be because of the defense, led by Square and Paschal.
