2. Speaking of defense, Tigers were stingy

LSU’s defense is the known commodity. While the option offense isn’t something they see every day, it would’ve been a shock to see Georgia Southern running up a score of more than 20 on the Tigers on the night. They even surpassed expectations in this one.

First, they held the Eagles to 98 total yards of offense, a significant mark in its own right. Then the Tigers went ahead and recovered two fumbles, winning the turnover battle against the team with the best turnover margin in the country last season.

Georgia Southern quarterback Shai Werts went an entire season without a turnover last season, and LSU was able to strip him late in the first quarter this season.

Already a confident defense, the Tigers will have a lot of momentum heading into next week against Texas.
