1. Tommy Stevens was the right choice by Joe Moorhead

Tommy Stevens transferred in from Penn State to contend for the starting job at Mississippi State and it left some Nittany Lions fans scratching their heads because he was considered the favorite to be QB1 in Happy Valley.

And now we know why he was in that position.

Stevens is a talented quarterback and a leader. He commanded the offense from the start of the game and while he didn’t put up video game-like numbers, he was strong and consistent in his first start with the Bulldogs.

Unfortunately for Penn State fans, he needed a fresh start and Mississippi State was the right place for him, reuniting with his former offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead. The now-head coach made the choice to start Stevens, who came in after spring ball, over Keytaon Thompson who had some upside with his ability to run.

But after watching Stevens command the offense, make solid throws and run hard all afternoon against Louisiana, it’s clear Moorhead made the right choice as his starter.
