Ohio State football cruised to victory in its season opener. Justin Fields stole the show in his first game leading this dynamic offense.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had a busy offseason. After a 13-1 season, which the Buckeyes failed to make the College Football Playoff, Urban Meyer announced that he would be retiring from coaching football.

In seven seasons at Ohio State, Meyer posted an 83-9 record. His time was highlighted by winning the 2015 National Championship in the inaugural College Football Playoff.

Although Urban Meyer is one of the greatest coaches of all time, it doesn’t appear as though Ryan Day is having any issues filling his shoes.

The Buckeyes welcomed Lane Kiffin and the Florida Atlantic Owls to Ohio Stadium in Week 1 and, frankly, it was a fairly one-sided game — by halftime, Ohio State led 28-3. The Buckeyes appeared to get content at times, allowing Florida Atlantic to score and Ryan Day also gave a handful of backups playing time. Therefore, it wasn’t a complete blowout and ultimately, Ohio State won comfortably, 45-21.

Let’s take a look at what else we learned from this season opener.
