2. Playoff chances

Ohio State was able to give Ryan Day a tryout as the head coach during Urban Meyer’s three-game administrative leave in 2018. During this period, Day exceeded expectations. The Buckeyes’ offense averaged over 56 points and the team earned a big win in a primetime game against TCU.

Despite the offense slowing down after their first quarter explosion against FAU, we can expect this Ohio State team to post ridiculous scoring numbers. This gets me to Ohio State’s playoff chances.

In 2018, the College Football Playoff committee ranked Georgia and Oklahoma over Ohio State. Georgia’s record was worse than the Buckeyes and they weren’t conference champions and Oklahoma had the same record and a conference championship (just like Ohio State).

In order to avoid being left out of the playoff again, the Buckeyes will need to run the score up against every one of their opponents.
